For years, I believed I was looking at the world exactly as you do.
Now I know better.
I’ve watched two people witness the same conversation…
Hear the same words…
Observe the same events…
And leave carrying entirely different understandings.
Neither was dishonest.
Neither was blind.
Neither was necessarily wrong.
Each was looking through a different window.
The world hadn’t changed.
Their perception had.
That realization humbled me.
It also made me curious.
Because if my perception could change without the world changing…
What else had I misunderstood?
We have to acknowledge something remarkably simple.
We all see the world differently.
We always see it through something.
Experience.
Memory.
Fear.
Confidence.
Hope.
Love.
Disappointment.
Every one of them leaves a fingerprint on the glass.
I offer this freely because I believe the best conversations begin with generosity, not persuasion.
If these pages resonate with you, I hope they encourage you to notice your own perceptions just a little differently.
— Steve Ulrich

If this sample resonated with you, Perception continues through 11 short chapters exploring experience, fear, confidence, bias, humility, memory, expectation, love, understanding, and seeing.
Sometimes the world hasn't changed.
Sometimes we simply need to look again.
